The Bodega Comarcal de Tacoronte has its origin in the Plan Insular Vitivinícola that the Cabildo de Tenerife drafted in 1987.
The idea was to build and make available to the winegrowers of the island a series of regional wineries equipped with all the technology for quality winemaking.
Once built, the island corporation leased it to the company Bodegas Insulares Tenerife (BITSA), which produced its first wines in 1992.
The objective was to take Tenerife wine out of the then exhausted circuit of bulk distribution of artisan wines, to make a qualitative leap that would allow it to rub shoulders with the best Spanish wines.
Tradition, history and raw material were in abundance.
