In March 2006, 89 years old and with the subway in his hand, Eugenio Reverón Sierra was discussing with Diego, his son and the boy, as he called him, the peculiarities of an exciting project that at the same time frightened him, the expansion of his old winery, where he had been making his bulk wine since 1947 and where he had already begun to produce two new wines, a semi-dry white and a red, bottled under the Finca Reverón brand under the auspices of the D. O. Abona.O. Abona.
And the fact is that “he did not like things to be done in a crazy way, since a project has to know how to work it and take care of it because if not, it is useless” EUGENIO REVERÓN SIERRA, (17-11-1916 – 17-08-2010) was dedicated, among other things, to the vineyards since 1946.
“I bought grapes and started making wine, although everything was more complicated than now, all the wine we made was sold, but it had to be carried in demijohns, by hand, because there was nothing asphalted” It was Diego Reverón, Eugenio’s son, who managed to convince “the old winemaker” to recover the family land and turn it into vineyards to produce quality grapes, to equip the winery with new technologies, to generate recreational and leisure areas focused on visitors with walks among the vineyards, a store with products made on the estate, animals that facilitate the natural fertilization of plants, organic crops, guided tours of the winery… This new project that frightened Eugenio, but that today and day by day becomes a reality, always with new ideas and a lot of effort.
